Extra long irons

Anyone tried using irons that are ostensibly too long for them? I am 5' 10.5" and had the tech guy re-shaft a set of MP33s one inch over (5 iron is 39") with DGX100s. Effectively the 3 iron is in a 1 iron shaft etc etc. ...
